3 steps to summer skin

3 steps to summer skin

Can you believe it's Memorial Day Weekend already?!? Summertime is upon us! As we shift into warmer weather and maybe humid for some, we should also transition into our summer skincare routine. Here are some tips on how to look your glowing best during the balmy summer months.

With the hotter weather, our skin naturally perspires more. It's important to cleanse in the morning and evening to ensure clear pores. If your skin feels more moist during the summer months, we recommend the Foaming Facial Wash to refresh your skin. If you use makeup or sunscreen during the day, it's important to remove this completely. Your best partner in removing any trace of makeup and mineral-based sunscreen is the Facial Cleanser & Makeup Remover. We highly recommend Double Cleansing on a daily basis - start with the oil-based makeup remover and follow up with the Foaming Facial Cleanser.

What's more refreshing during a hot day than cooling off with a refreshing mist of organic rose, neroli, and propolis? The Facial Toner gently revitalizes the skin, balancing the pH as it hydrates, invigorates and purifies, giving your skin a healthy glow.

We recommend using the toner right after you have cleansed your face, then apply your serum or moisturizer while your skin is still moist from the toner. Reapply often during the day for an instant refreshment and boost. Our Facial Toner is suitable for all skin types.

Summertime skincare means stepping up our hydration, both internally and externally. The sun can really dry out skin, and if you spend days at the beach - as we do here in Hawaii - it's important to put on a moisturizer that instantly cools and heals your sunkissed skin; like the After Sun Face & Body Lotion. It's lightweight, but with heavy-duty moisturizing and healing ingredients like aloe vera gel and essential oils of lemongrass, patchouli, and jasmine.

It can also be a good time to switch to a lighter moisturizer. The Lotion Face & Body is the ultimate multitasker and a great travel companion. It can be used by the whole family on both face and body, and it has a lighter feel than our regular Face & Eye Crème

We also love using the healing and regenerating HoneyGlo Facial Serum as a moisturizer. It contains a blend of organic botanical oils that synergize to help heal and protect sun-damaged skin.

If you have sunspots, the Rose C Serum can help fade this hyperpigmentation. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin C, this serum is a summertime essential.

If your skin gets oily or shiny during the hotter months, we recommend using the Night Crème or even the Super Skin Food. Both of these creams have a higher beeswax content and less oil then the Face & Eye Crème.

All of Honey Girl Organics' moisturizers contain beeswax that helps soften and hydrate the skin and also create a protective barrier against the elements. It will not clog pores, as it is a porous organic substance that helps seal in moisture. Beeswax contains over 300 micronutrients, propolis, and bee pollen - all with incredible benefits for your skin!

Getting rid of dead skin cells to reveal your healthy sunkissed skin is a breeze with the Facial Scrub. The scrub can be used 1-3 times a week depending on skin type. It contains granulated sugar, diatomaceous earth and coconut oil to gently exfoliate your skin. And it smells like a tropical summer...

If your skin is in need of some extra TLC, we recommend the nourishing Rejuvenating Mask once a week. The deep green color comes from French green clay and Hawaiian blue-green algae. Together with raw Hawaiian honey, the mask will draw out impurities, brighten, and stimulate collagen production.

Now, go out and enjoy the beautiful days of summer! Stay hydrated inside and out by following our steps and drinking plenty of water. And make sure you protect yourself against the prolonged sun exposure by limiting your time in direct sunlight, finding shade, wearing protective clothing + a big hat, and using a non-nano zinc-based sunscreen like the Protect Stick
