How We Back Our Skincare Claims

Trust should be earned - with evidence you can see.

Since 2006, Honey Girl Organics has built its reputation on more than beautiful ingredients. We look at real customer experience, published ingredient research, hands-on formulation and quality controls, and independent third-party standards to help keep our skincare claims grounded and transparent.

Four Layers of Confidence

How we decide what we can responsibly say about our skincare.

We believe trustworthy skincare communication should distinguish between customer experience, scientific research, manufacturing controls, and independent certification rather than treating them as interchangeable.

01

Real customer experience

Thousands of customers have shared how HGO products feel and perform in everyday routines, climates, age ranges, and skin types.

Real-world feedback
02

Published ingredient research

We follow scientific literature on ingredients central to our formulas—including honey, beeswax, olive oil, propolis, and other botanicals.

Scientific context
03

Formulation & quality controls

HGO develops and produces its formulas in-house, with attention to ingredient quality, texture, pH where applicable, stability, cleanliness, and consistent batch performance.

Hands-on oversight
04

Independent verification

Third-party programs such as USDA organic certification and PETA’s cruelty-free program provide accountability beyond HGO’s own statements.

Customer Feedback & Real Results

What thousands of customers tell us matters.

Customer feedback has been part of Honey Girl Organics from the beginning. Across thousands of published reviews, customers frequently describe softer-feeling skin, lasting moisture comfort, smoother texture, and formulas they return to year after year.

That kind of long-term real-world feedback helps us understand how our products fit into actual skincare routines—not only how a formula behaves on a workbench.

Real-world evidence deserves context.

Customer reviews are valuable evidence of individual experiences, but they are not the same as controlled clinical trials. We use them to identify patterns, understand preferences, monitor product performance, and learn where customers are seeing the most value.

Time-Tested Ingredients

Our signature formula story begins with the hive and the olive.

Honey, beeswax, and extra virgin olive oil have long histories in traditional skin care. At HGO, those familiar ingredients form the foundation of many of our formulas because they offer complementary moisture-attracting, softening, conditioning, and barrier-supporting properties.

01

Honey

Honey supports moisture attraction and helps give skin a soft, comforted, conditioned feel.

Moisture attraction
02

Beeswax

Beeswax gives many HGO creams their rich, cushiony texture while helping create a breathable, moisture-sealing feel on skin.

Barrier support
03

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil brings botanical softness and rich skin-conditioning support to dry-feeling and comfort-seeking skin.

Scientific Research

Research helps explain why these ingredients are so interesting.

Published research on honey, beeswax, olive oil, and their combinations gives us scientific context for ingredients that people have used on skin for generations.

Published research

Honey + Beeswax + Olive Oil

A partially controlled, single-blinded study published in 2003 investigated a 1:1:1 mixture of natural honey, beeswax, and olive oil in people with atopic dermatitis or psoriasis.

The researchers reported promising results from the mixture in that study population.

Laboratory research

Antimicrobial activity of the mixture

A separate 2005 study examined honey, beeswax, olive oil, and their mixture against Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans under laboratory conditions.

The study observed inhibitory activity associated particularly with honey and the honey-containing mixture.

An important distinction: ingredient research is not an HGO clinical trial.

These published studies investigated ingredients and ingredient mixtures—not Honey Girl Organics finished products. We use research like this to better understand our ingredients and inform responsible cosmetic claims. HGO skincare is not presented as a drug or as a treatment for eczema, psoriasis, infection, or other medical conditions.

Quality Control & Product Testing

From formulation to filling, HGO keeps the process close.

Honey Girl Organics owns its formulations and manages research, development, and production in Hawaiʻi. Keeping these processes close gives us direct oversight over how our formulas are prepared and how each batch looks, feels, and performs before it reaches customers.

  • Ingredient and formula review before production.
  • Fresh, small-batch manufacturing in Hawaiʻi.
  • Texture, appearance, and consistency checks.
  • pH monitoring where appropriate to the formula.
  • Stability evaluation appropriate to each product type.
  • Microbial safety testing for applicable formulas.
  • Ongoing review of customer feedback after launch.

Before a Product Reaches You

How an HGO formula earns its place in the collection.

01

Formulate intentionally

We begin with a focused purpose and select ingredients that make sense together rather than building unnecessarily complicated ingredient decks.

02

Evaluate the formula

Texture, spread, appearance, stability, compatibility, and other formula-specific quality characteristics are evaluated as development progresses.

03

Gather human feedback

New products may be evaluated by consenting adult testers who provide feedback on comfort, feel, application, and the overall skincare experience.

04

Keep listening

Launching a product is not the end of evaluation. Customer feedback and new ingredient research continue to inform how we think about our formulas and claims.

Proof Beyond Our Own Words

Independent standards matter.

Some of the strongest trust signals are the ones a brand cannot simply award itself.

  • Independent USDA organic certification.
  • Documented ingredient sourcing and traceability.
  • Ongoing certifier review and annual inspection.
  • External cruelty-free recognition through PETA.

USDA Organic Certification

Honey Girl Organics maintains certification under the USDA organic regulations through an accredited third-party certifying agent. Certification adds independent oversight to sourcing, handling, documentation, labeling, and qualifying organic products.

Human Feedback, Never Animal Testing

We want to know how a formula feels on real skin.

During product development, consenting adult testers may help us evaluate factors such as texture, application, moisture feel, comfort, aroma, and the overall experience of using a formula.

This kind of feedback is valuable because skincare has a sensory dimension that laboratory measurements alone cannot capture.

Human feedback complements quality testing—it does not replace it.

Customer and tester experiences help us understand usability and perceived performance, while formula-specific stability, microbial, and quality controls address different aspects of product development.

Honest Claims Over Bigger Claims

We would rather explain the evidence than oversell it.

Not every HGO finished product has undergone a large randomized clinical trial—and we do not want customers to think otherwise. Our approach combines the forms of evidence most relevant to our skincare: formulation knowledge, quality testing, customer experience, ingredient research, and independent certification.

Honey Girl Organics skincare products and small-batch production

Our commitment is ongoing.

We continue to monitor customer feedback, ingredient literature, formulation performance, and quality information so the language we use about HGO products stays useful, supportable, and clear.

FAQ

Questions about HGO testing and evidence.

How does Honey Girl Organics support its skincare claims?

HGO draws from several types of evidence: long-term customer feedback, published research on key ingredients, formulation and quality-control testing, human product evaluation, and independent standards such as USDA organic certification.

Does HGO conduct clinical trials on every finished product?

No. We do not represent every HGO formula as clinically tested. Published ingredient research helps inform our understanding, while finished formulas undergo product-appropriate development, quality, stability, and safety evaluation.

Do customer reviews count as scientific evidence?

Customer reviews are real-world evidence of individual experiences, but they are not controlled clinical trials. We use customer feedback to identify patterns in product experience, understand preferences, and monitor how formulas perform in everyday use.

Do the published honey, beeswax, and olive oil studies test HGO products?

No. The cited research investigated honey, beeswax, olive oil, or mixtures of those ingredients. The studies provide scientific context for our ingredients but should not be interpreted as clinical testing of Honey Girl Organics finished products.

Is Honey Girl Organics independently certified organic?

Yes. Honey Girl Organics maintains certification under the USDA organic regulations through a USDA-accredited certifying agent. Certification applies according to the certified operation and qualifying product scope.

Does Honey Girl Organics test on animals?

No. Honey Girl Organics is cruelty-free and is currently listed by PETA as a company that does not test on animals.
