Winter Vacation Skincare Routine

Winter Vacation Skincare Routine

Written by Bri Durante

Last month, I went on a wintery vacation all the way from Hawai’i to Colorado! I was so excited to spend time with my family and get into the beautiful snowy mountains- but I knew I would have to prepare for the cold and dry air- especially for how it would affect my skin.

Here is a photo of all of us snowshoeing in Colorado!

My typical skincare routine at home in Hawai’i consists of washing my face with Foaming Facial Wash, followed by Rose Creme or Face & Eye Cream. I like to keep my routine simple, but I knew I had to step it up for this trip, so I brought along some other products to save my skin from the cold, dry air. I even brought my travel size Facial Toner for the plane ride!

This Rose Creme seriously saved my dry skin!

On our first day there, we went snowshoeing. If you’ve never tried this, it’s a must do! We hiked with our snowshoes a mile and a half on a snow-covered trail with insane mountain views all around us. The only problem, every time I stopped for a picture and took my gloves off, I could feel my hands getting more and more dry. Luckily, I had anticipated this happening from my winters spent in Pennsylvania, so I kept my Cuticle & Nail Crème close by. This turned out to be the biggest lifesaver since I was taking pictures the whole trip!

After the first day, I knew I had to ramp up my routine to keep my skin moisturized and protected. I swapped out my Rose Creme for the more moisturizing Night Crème and added Rose C Serum to my morning routine to keep my skin moisturized throughout the day.

My second favorite product on this trip!

After long hours spent outside or in the car, I just wanted to end my days with a hot shower. But, instead of turning the water as high as it could go, like I wanted, I put my skin first and used lukewarm water to protect my skin! I always splash a bit of cold water on my face before drying, then apply my Honey Girl products before I go to bed.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was snowboarding. I’ve been snowboarding my whole life but riding in Colorado is a whole different game than hitting the Pennsylvania slopes I’m used to! On the East Coast, you’ve pretty much got either icy hills or terrain park. In Colorado, there are parks, moguls, trees, and tons and tons of fresh powder to switch it up.

These trees covered in snow were so majestic and beautiful.

I brought along travel sizes of The Lotion and ManKine for my boyfriend and I to keep in our bags and stay moisturized throughout our long days in the cold. I knew he would appreciate a little something just for him, especially since he wasn’t used to the cold. Travel sizes are the perfect amount for vacation, plus we were able to keep them in our carry-ons!

Before the trip ended, my parents surprised us with a snowmobile tour! I never thought I would have the chance to do such a fun thing, and I was so grateful for the surprise! We rode through beautiful forests of snow-covered Aspens and Pine trees, laughing and smiling every second of the way. By the end of the trip, I was getting used to the cold and I could tell my skin was soaking up the moisture from my HGO products.

Now that I’m back in Hawai’i, it’s been so fun reminiscing on all the good times and looking through our cute wintery photos! I’m so happy to be home but look forward to hopefully taking another winter trip next year- and I know my skin will be prepared too!
