Start The Year Green & Clean

The New Year is here! How exciting and refreshing is the thought of becoming the best version of ourselves? Making resolutions to improve our health and body feels like the right thing to do. After all, it’s not just the beginning of a new year, but the welcoming of a New Decade.

Most people make resolutions to improve their health, like working out more, eating better foods, and taking time for self-care. But why not also incorporate a healthier approach to taking care of your largest organ – your skin?

Here at HGO, we often hear customers having concerns about their complexion: “My skin has dry patches”. “My skin looks dull and I’m getting wrinkles”. We also listen to customers’ stories about thousands of dollars spent on treatments and products to improve the appearance of their skin, only to be left with short term results.

A better approach to improve skin texture is to take a more holistic path to skin care. By treating both the inside - and outside of your body, your success rate for accomplishing a radiant and glowing complexion is way higher.

HGO’s Guide To A Glowing Complexion

Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is the most important step as your entire body requires enough rest to rebuild, repair and replace cells. Research shows that not getting enough sleep can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles, saggy skin, undereye dark circles, and lackluster skin.

Hydrate Inside Out

The environment you’re in plays a huge role in the hydration level of your skin. However, the best way to beat constant dry or dehydrated skin is to hydrate from the inside consistently. Water is the #1 source for hydration. Now you can also accelerate the hydration process with minerals and fast-absorbing electrolytes, by adding them directly to your water intake. Another benefit of drinking plenty of water is that you more rapidly get rid of toxins.

Fuel Your Skin

A healthy and clean diet is a very important step on the path to radiant skin. Many skin problems are related to diet and as we age, this will more easily show up in our skin.

Our skin needs the right building block in order to rebuild and repair cellular tissue on a regular basis. Protein, fats, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and micronutrients all work together to regenerate your skin. Nourish your body with nutritious foods and your skin will greatly benefit. Try to lower your intake (or completely skip) the intake of refined sugars, processed grains, and processed foods. Only you will know what works for you. A diet journal can be a great tool.

Stress Less

The primary stress hormone, cortisol, is known to break down collagen in your skin. The more stressed out you are, the more cortisol your body produces. Eventually, the skin cells will not be able to rebuild the elastin and collagen as well as they used to, causing the signs of aging skin. One easy and enjoyable way to reduce stress is getting out in nature and moving your body more.

Switch To Clean Skin Care Products

Taking care of your skin daily is important. And using safe and natural skin care products without toxins is essential.

Hydrate & Moisturize

Our #1 advice for radiant-looking skin is to hydrate and moisturize your skin with a rich cream. It will instantly plump up fine lines and wrinkles. Finding the right moisturizer for your skin type (links) is important. Our USDA certified organic creams will all help with hydration and moisturization while protecting your skin from environmental damage due to the beeswax and pure organic extra virgin olive oil. During the winter months, your skin might need extra moisture, and our H2Go stick can come in handy for moisture on the go!

Cleanse & Exfoliate

In order for your skin to absorb all the nutrients in our serums and creams, your skin needs to be clean and also be rid of excess dead skin cells. We recommend cleansing your skin both morning and evening with a cleanser for your specific skin type.

As we age, our cell turnover slows down, and regular exfoliation will help get rid of those stubborn dry-patches you might see on your skin. Harsh exfoliators tend to dry out your skin, so using our sugar-based moisturizing Facial Scrub 1-3 times a week will leave your skin smooth and glowing.

Our mildly exfoliating Rejuvenating Mask targets many skin issues and helps with reducing blemishes, brightening, tightening and adding nutrients that stimulate collagen production. Use this mask 1-3 times a week.

Treat Specifically

Depending on the specific skin problems you experience, we recommend our targeted serums and mask.

Sunspots, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone can be treated with our new vitamin C serum.

Dry, dehydrated, lackluster skin, fine lines, and wrinkles can benefit from our ‘fountain of youth’ HoneyGlo Regenerating Serum. This serum deeply penetrates, leaving you with a healthy glow when used on a regular basis.

Be Consistent

When you start your new skin care regiment, being consistent is key. And, with all New Year’s resolutions, they will stick, if they feel good! Use the first month of 2020 to see what works for you. Don’t be too hard on yourself if it didn’t work out the way you thought it would. And remember – every day is a chance to start something new! You actually do not have to wait until next year ;)
