Honey Girl Tries "Slugging"

Honey Girl Tries "Slugging"

I’m sure by now most of you have heard of the term called “slugging” when it comes to skincare, and if you haven’t then you’ve definitely come to the right place! This method of skincare was introduced to us by a K-beauty trend which includes coating your face in Vaseline after applying your evening skincare products. You may ask, “Why would someone do this?” Well, some claim that it helps lock in the moisture of your skin and help keep it hydrated (best for dry skin types). There have been many people testing out this method all over TikTok and other social media platforms and are seeing incredible results, so we decided to put this method to the test but with a twist! We decided to use our USDA-organic products instead for those who are not able to put petrolatum or Vaseline on their faces. Using HGO products is especially beneficial because they are non-comedogenic unlike Vaseline, which makes this process safe to do more often during these cold and dry months.

One of our social media specialists, Lexi, tried this method over the course of two nights with the following products. The first night she added the Super Skin Food after her nightly routine which consisted of the Rose C Serum & Rose Crème. On the second night, she swapped out the Super Skin Food with the Matte so she could compare results. She made sure to apply the Super Skin Food and Matte across her entire face after waiting for the other products to absorb into her skin which prevented any transfer of cream onto her pillowcase. Then she went to sleep for a full night’s rest.

When Lexi woke up she found her skin feeling incredibly plump and moisturized, and mentioned that this is a wonderful technique to use in the dry winter months or in situations where it’s easy for the skin to dry out. She also noted that her skin felt super hydrated throughout the day too! Adding that last layer of thicker product is great because it acts like a glove, keeping the moisture from evaporating out of the skin, and then adding even more moisture and nutrients.

So which product worked best? Well that’s up to your personal preference. Lexi mentioned that both products worked extremely well, without a noticeable difference on her skin, but the Matte was more comfortable since it had a less greasy feeling. This is especially apparent after having applied a serum and Face & Eye Cream before applying the thicker overnight layer.

So now you know you can try the organic alternative to slugging if you want to achieve hydrated and supple skin during the long winter months, or even if you struggle with eczema or dry skin! Will you give it a try? Let us know how you like it!
