5 Beehive Products & Their Benefits In Skin Care

The health benefits of honey have been known for thousands of years. It's prized for it's powerful healing and nutritional properties. And yet, honey is just one of the jewels of the beehive. Research has shown that beehive ingredients including honey, beeswax, royal jelly, and bee pollen demonstrate great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making them ideal for skin care products.

Honey Girl Organics uses beehive ingredients as the base for our entire skin care line.  As a result, each product is packed with nature's finest sources of healing, renewal and regeneration.

It's easy to get glowing skin with Honey Girl Organics HoneyGlo Regenerating Face Serum.

# 1: HONEY

Known as the Queen of the beehive products – this golden liquid has been known for centuries to heal wounds and treat infection, as well as being antioxidant, antibiotic and antiviral. Honey is a humectant - it attracts and retains moisture. It also acts as an anti-irritant. When water is combined with honey, hydrogen peroxide is released in small amounts over time so that the antibiotic effect on your skin works slowly and very gently. This helps to reduce blemishes and pimples, making it ideal for acne prone skin types.

Honey also stimulates collagen production, which is important in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. With its antioxidant properties, honey is a free-radical scavenger - it neutralizes damaging free radicals at the molecular level.  All these factors make honey a natural fit in moisturizing products and suitable for all skin types - even sensitive skin.

In all-natural skin care products, honey acts as a preservative, so there is no need for chemical or artificial preservatives in the product!

Honey Girl Organics' creams get the golden color from organic beeswax and other beehive ingredients.

#2: BEESWAX

is a nutrient-rich substance secreted by bees in order to make honeycomb. Unfiltered beeswax contains over 300 micronutrients. Beeswax will soften your skin and create a long-lasting protective coating against the elements. It will not clog pores, as it is a porous organic substance. The wax esters in beeswax are the closest to the wax esters in human skin.

It also is a naturally nourishing moisturizer as well as being anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, antiallergenic and a germicidal antioxidant. Beeswax obtains its golden color from the  propolis and bee pollen inside, both also known for their incredible health benefits. The beeswax helps lock in your skin’s own moisture, nourishes skin cells and creates a barrier against the destruction caused by our environment.

#3: ROYAL JELLY

This thick, milky substance is produced by the worker bees to feed the queen bee. They mix honey and bee pollen with enzymes in the glands of their throats to produce royal jelly. Royal Jelly is believed to be a useful supplement because of the queen bee’s superior size, strength, stamina and longevity compared to other bees. Royal jelly may be one of nature’s best kept secrets. It consists of a blend of proteins, vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

The list of health benefits attributed to royal jelly is long: assisting the regeneration of human body cells, reversing the aging process, healing wounds and skin disorders, promoting sexual rejuvenation, stimulating the immune system, protecting the skin from dehydration as well as providing antibacterial, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory action.

Royal jelly enhances the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antibiotic elements of the creams, helping to keep your skin clear of acne outbreaks and infection, while boosting collagen production, minimizing wrinkles and supporting supple and glowing skin.

Royal Jelly contains specific nutrients and vitamins that support skin renewal such as flavonoids, nucleic acid, decanoic acid, enzymes, and hormones. It also contains numerous vitamins and minerals such as vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, acetyl-choline and zinc, all of which are excellent for the skin.

The amino acids in royal jelly are basic ingredients in collagen. Collagen is essential in maintaining the skin’s firmness by supporting its connective tissue, which is important for more youthful looking skin. Royal jelly contains collagen, lecithin, vitamins A, B-complex, C, D, and E, which are essential for skin health, firmness and elasticity.

 #4: PROPOLIS

Propolis is a sticky resin that seeps from the wounds and buds of trees. When collecting propolis, bees prefer resins from poplar and conifer trees. After collecting the propolis, sometimes called "bee glue," bees carry it back to the hive in their pollen baskets. Once back at the hive they are met by other worker bees who help them unload it. These workers then mix the propolis with salivary secretions and flakes of beeswax.

The final blend is rich in a variety of vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Propolis is also called 'nature's penicillin' or nature's antibiotic. It rejuvenates skin by disabling viruses and fighting infections.

The Facial Toner from Honey Girl Organics contains propolis to help regulate sebum production, as well as stimulate blood flow and moisturize to give skin a healthy glow!

The antiseptic & antibiotic properties of propolis ensure a germ free environment. Combined with the intense nutritional content, this ingredient is extremely beneficial in natural skin care production.

#5: BEE POLLEN

Numerous scientists have concluded that bee pollen is a complete source of nutrition, containing all the enzymes, vitamins, amino acids, hormones, and trace elements needed by the body for cell growth. No one food contains all of these nutritional components - except bee pollen. Bee pollen is a large part of the bee's diet. It is the substance that is created when bees mix together nectar or honey, bee saliva and the plant pollen that bees collect from flowers.

The nutrient-dense bee pollen contain vitamins, minerals, amino acids, phytochemicals, carotenoids, flavonoids and phytosterols. This makes bee pollen excellent for healing and rejuvenating of the skin.

Studies shows that bee pollen can help with wrinkles and blemishes and also correct darkening of the skin. Simply stated, bee pollen is yet another amazing gift from the most generous, valuable, and extraordinary insect on earth!
